The interview lasts a few minutes. Clear, honest answers matter far more than a thick folder of papers.
For the US B1/B2 visa, the interview is where the decision is made. Most interviews last only a few minutes, and the officer often does not look at the documents you bring. What they listen to is how you explain your trip and your life at home.
Questions you can expect
- Why are you travelling, and for how long?
- Who will you stay with, and what do they do?
- What do you do for work, and how much do you earn?
- Who is paying for the trip?
- Have you travelled abroad before?
How to answer well
- Answer the question asked, briefly and in your own words
- Make sure every answer matches your DS-160 form
- Do not memorise a script; officers notice
- If you do not understand a question, politely ask them to repeat it
We go through your DS-160 with you line by line and practise the likely questions, so that on the day you can simply tell the truth with confidence.
