How the application goes
Plan the trip
Dates, cities and nights come first. The itinerary decides whether Spain is the right consulate for you.
Build the file
We hand you a personal checklist and review each paper before anything is submitted.
Appointment and biometrics
We book your slot at Spain's visa centre. You attend in person with the file.
Decision
Your passport returns with the decision, and we go through it with you either way.
How long it takes
Spain follows the Schengen timetable: normally 15 calendar days for a decision, up to 45 when the consulate needs more. Getting an appointment can take longer than the decision in peak season.
Good to know
- If you stay with someone in Spain, the consulate expects the official invitation letter that your host requests from the police there. A plain letter is not enough.
- The 90 days count across all Schengen countries together.
- Insurance must cover at least €30,000 and the whole Schengen area.
Questions about the Spain visit visa
What is the invitation letter for a Spain visit visa?
When a private person hosts you in Spain, they apply for an official invitation letter at their local police station. The original is sent to you and goes into your file. If you are staying in hotels, bookings are enough.
